Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed... yet again. If you've been following the epic tale of this game entry from CD Projekt Red, then you are likely not surprised. This game was announced in May of 2012, with a teaser dropping in 2013. Six years later, the team provided a release date of April 16th, 2020. It was then delayed to September 17th. Then it was delayed until November 19th. Now, it's been delayed until December 10th.
There are two major reactions that I have seen to this delay.
1) *rage* This is a travesty! May your firstborn be cursed!
2) *big sigh* I mean, these things take time.
As a nerd pastor, I would be remiss not to draw the comparison here to our own upcoming Advent season. While I doubt it was the intention of the team, December 10th is smack dab in the middle of that trying time. Perhaps nerds can take a cue from the church here and see that there is more to anticipation than frustration and trust issues.
There is love. There is hope. There is peace. There is joy. All of that exists within the waiting. It doesn't feel that way when you are in the midst of it - and it's for that reason precisely that we honor the season of Advent. In Advent, we wait with bated breath the arrival of Jesus by celebrating the first arrival of Christ to the humble manger.
Beloved nerds, let's find joy in the waiting for this game. I've seen some serious depression and hurt around these delays. Take a deep, longing breath and celebrate your love for a favorite game that exists. Play it with hope for the next game. Find peace in your gaming community. Let the Advent begin.
God loves you. I love you. You matter.
Be boldly blessed.
