Ready for Impact

If you haven't been able to join us for the past few weeks on our Twitch streams, then you have likely not seen our game choices are bit different than usual. Since the announcement of the nominee list for the annual The Game Awards, we've been playing through all of the nominations under my personal favorite category: Games for Impact.

All of the titles nominated for any category at The Game Awards are undoubtedly excellent titles - as they've each literally placed as someone's favorite game of the year in for each theme. These are the cream of the crop, in other words, and they've earned the nomination. Each one has likely set the respective studio or development team on trajectory for an excellent next project.

Games for Impact is my favorite category for many reasons. I always enjoy seeing voice actors praised for their work. I enjoy seeing who earns the GOTY (Game of the Year). But, more than anything, I get such joy seeing the blood, sweat, and tears put into games that are meant for more than just pleasure. Games that are meant to tell a story, sure, but a story that makes a difference. Whether it be like Life Is Strange, presenting the player with tough as nails choices; or like That Dragon, Cancer, allowing a personal look into a real-life and heartbreaking narrative.

This year, we will gather as a community and watch The Game Awards live together on Twitch. I hope that you'll join me and root for your favorite nominees. More than anything, I hope you'll consider supporting the artists behind these games that made your year.

God loves you. I love you. You matter. Be boldly blessed.
